Vikram Memorial Lectures was a great success and all felt it was a fitting tribute to the late Dr. Vikram. HEOS was able to contribute $1200 to the new SPIE Chandra S. Huntsville Electro-Optical Society's Annual CookoutFriday, April 18 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Free food and drinks Many local optics companies and groups will be participating, so join the optics community. Invited speaker Dr. R. Barry Johnson a Research Professor in the Department of Physics at Alabama A&M University on "What Do You Really Know About Cardinal Points and Other Interesting Concepts?" at 12:15, see attached flyer Location: University of Alabama in Huntsville at the Optics Building in the courtyard, presentation in McDonnell Douglas Auditorium. If you plan to bring a large group please response to this email, or to one of the HEOS officers with the number in your company or group planning to attend the cookout. This will insure we have the necessary provisions to feed all. Feel free to bring anyone interested in promoting or supporting optics development in Huntsville and in the Tennessee valley to join us. Student Poster Paper Session prior to the Cookout 10:00 am to 11:00 am Meet UAH and Alabama A&M optics students from the undergraduate and graduate schools of engineering and science. A great way to identify sharp talent for part-time and full-time employment opportunities. Also stay in touch with both university's research and learn about collaborative research opportunities.

nominated! HEOS is accepting
nominations for next year's officers. Submit your nominations to one of the
HEOS officers. Voting will begin in May and election results will be
announced at the Annual Banquet Dinner.
The cookout event funding is graciously provided by SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. If you would like a color printed poster for the HEOS Cookout to post, please contact a HEOS officer and one will be provided. Participants
